November 18th marks one year since Cameron Kerr killed in hit and run

On November 18, 2018, 30 year-old Cameron Kerr of Terrace, BC was walking home along Highway 16 west of Terrace when he was struck and killed by a hit and run driver. (Link to original media release).

Since that time, investigators have received a significant number of tips from the public and have gathered valuable evidence. Investigators believe that there are a number of witnesses in this matter that have information which, if provided to police, will assist the investigation. It should be noted that some witnesses and persons of interest previously identified in this matter are not from Terrace or the Northern BC area and, in fact, reside in the Lower Mainland of BC.

This tragic incident continues to affect the community of Terrace and the Kerr family. The RCMP are committed to solving this case and will utilize all legal means necessary to bring those responsible for this crime to justice for the sake of our community and the Kerr family.

To those responsible and to those who have knowledge of this tragic event - and you know who you are - we encourage you to come forward with your information and take responsibility for your actions, says Sgt. Shawn McLaughlin of West Pacific Region Traffic Services. Cameron Kerr deserves as much. Ask yourself if you would want justice done if it was your friend or family member killed in similar circumstances.

I am Sgt. Shawn McLaughlin, Unit Commander for West Pacific Region Traffic Services. November 18th, 2019 marks the one-year anniversary of the Hit and Run collision that resulted in the death of 30 year-old Cameron Kerr, a well-known and respected member of the Terrace community. The incident occurred on Highway 16 near New Remo located west of Terrace, BC.

Over the past year, various sections of the BC RCMP have been thoroughly investigating this criminal act. Early on in the investigation, we asked the public to come forward with information pertaining to the collision. As a result, we received a significant number of tips and have gathered valuable evidence. This information leads us to believe that there are a number of witnesses in this matter that have information which, if provided to police, will assist the investigation. It should be noted that some witnesses and persons of interest that have been identified in this matter are not from Terrace or the Northern BC area and, in fact, reside in the Lower Mainland of BC.

As you have seen from public statements made by the Kerr family, this matter continues to deeply affect their family and I can personally attest to how it has affected our community as a whole.
