In an emergency would the police, the fire department or paramedics easily be able to find your home? First Responders study street maps and follow on-line vehicle mapping systems to get to the correct street but often, once they get to your block, they are delayed in locating your house because they can’t see your house numbers. In an emergency every minute counts, this delay could mean the difference between life and death.
Over the next few months, volunteers from the Langley RCMP Community Police Offices will be going door to door, looking at your house numbers and leaving a card indicating whether or not your house numbers are easily read. We are looking to see that your numbers are large enough to read from the street, not hidden behind bushes, trees or hanging baskets, not the same color (or a similar color) as your house and in a logical location for quick identification.
Become a part of our project, stand near the street in front of your home and see how readily your address can be found and read. If you can’t see them, please change them ... as they say, the life you save could be your own!
