The Langley RCMP consists of the following:


Administration

This area includes the Detachment Commander, the Operations officer, the Operations Support officer and the Operational Support (Administration) NCO. These positions are supported by a financial clerk and an administrative assistant to the Detachment Commander. The responsibilities of this group go beyond the daily administration of the detachment, to include work in the area of quality assurance, strategic planning, corporate planning and liaison with the city and township of Langley.


Community Policing Services (CPS)

Working in collaboration with our community partners, the CPS unit strives to find sustainable solutions to the criminal activity occurring within our community. Working together to achieve our core functions of prevention, enforcement, and education, is the Prolific Offender Enforcement Team, Youth at Risk Officers, School Resource Officers and Crime Prevention/Office Coordinators.

Block Watch

Business Link

The Business Link program is designed to enhance communication between the Police and the business community in order to reduce crime. Langley businesses can request a free security assessment and presentation to assist them in helping to protect their assets and create a safe environment by calling 604-532-3200.

Registered businesses receive email alerts from the Langley RCMP Crime Prevention Team, which informs them of neighbourhood commercial break and enters.

Citizens Patrol

Citizen’s Patrol is a partnership between community volunteer, the RCMP and ICBC. The volunteers are trained to observe, record and report any suspicious activity. Provided with the hot spots in our community these dedicated volunteers become the extra eyes and ears needed to help deter such criminal activity as theft from vehicles, theft of vehicles, graffiti, vandalism and break and enters.

Crime Free Multi-Housing

The Crime Free Multi-Housing Program (CFMH) is direct and solution oriented. It is a crime prevention initiative designed specifically to help the owners, managers, residents, police and other agencies work together to keep illegal and nuisance activity off multi-family rental property. Its unique three phases ensure that crime prevention is successfully attained. It is resident friendly yet effective in reducing crime in multi-family rental communities.

Realty Watch

Realty Watch is a collaborative effort between the Real Estate Industry, being administered by volunteer Realtors and staff from the Fraser Valley Real Estate Board, the Greater Vancouver Real Estate Board and the Chilliwack Real Estate Board, and Law Enforcement.

Realty Watch has over 12,000 Realtors across the Lower Mainland and provides extra eyes and ears, 24-hours a day, 7-days a week, to assist local law enforcement with time sensitive files.

Loss Prevention

The Loss Prevention/Resource Protection Program was developed and implemented to ensure an open dialogue between the Police and LP/RP Officers and the companies they work for. LP/RP personnel are provided with crime prevention tools to best protect their assets and create a safe working environment for the staff and customer base.


Speed Watch

Community volunteers in partnership with Traffic Enforcement and ICBC form the Speed Watch Program. Speed Watch is designed to help reduce speed and/or distracted driving related crashes. Volunteers monitor known high crash locations such as intersections as well as school and park zones; with all the information gathered being disseminated to the Traffic Enforcement Unit and ICBC.

Drug Section

The Langley Detachment Drug Section is responsible for investigations related to the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act. The Drug Section consists of two units, the Green Team that investigates Marijuana Growing Operations and the Target Team that investigates offences related to the possession, trafficking, and/or importation of Controlled Substances.


Forensic Identification

The Langley Office of the Lower Mainland Forensic Identification Services Section provides specialized support to the Investigative Sections. Our support includes the recording and examination of crime scenes. We are also tasked in the collection, analysis and preservation of evidence from crime scenes to allow Investigators and persons of the Court system to later review.


General Duty

The General Duty component of Langley Detachment is the core service delivery unit of our Detachment. It is comprised of 90 highly trained and dedicated members who respond to calls from our citizens which range form noisy parties to homicides and motor vehicle collisions. We average about 125 to 150 of these calls for service every day!

Their primary mandate after call response is to conduct follow-up investigations and participate in Crime Reduction and Crime Prevention activities as well as enforcement of Federal, Provincial and some Municipal Statutes to keep you and your family safe and secure.

These members take great pride in the job they do in the Langley's and look forward to serving you in a friendly, professional and respectful manner.


Serious Crime Section

This section is responsible for investigating complex criminal offences including robberies, extortions, serious violent offences against persons and associated Criminal Code offences.

Strike Force

Langley Strike Force consists of regular members and an office assistant and is a support unit to the rest of the Langley Detachment.  The main focus of Strike Force is on property related crime through the targeting of prolific offenders involved in the following:

The members of this unit work as a covert surveillance team that targets prolific offenders in Langley and throughout the Lower Mainland.  They assist other Detachments, internal Detachment Sections and outside Agencies with investigation when required.

Traffic Section

The Langley Traffic Services Section is tasked with Traffic Law Enforcement and the investigation of serious and all fatal collisions in the City and Township of Langley. Our goal is to make our streets safe for both pedestrian and vehicular traffic through the use of the Three E's (Education, Enforcement and Engineering) of Traffic Safety.

Client Support and Victim Services

Langley RCMP Victim Services provides information, emotional support, referrals and practical assistance to victims and witnesses of crime and other traumatic events.

Services are tailored to meet the needs of each client. Program staff strives to minimize the long term impact of crime and trauma through thoughtful and empathetic means and to prevent re-victimization by enhancing the victims understanding of police and court procedures.
