Bertha aka Faye HANSON

The search is continuing for the missing 73 year old female, last seen at approximately 12 pm on October 22nd. Local Search and Rescue crews (SAR) are now being assisted by many other SAR units from across Vancouver Island. A SAR dog and mounted SAR unit is involved; Nanaimo RCMP Police Dog Services continues to assist in the search which is centred approximately 5 kms west of the Nanaimo airport and near where her vehicle was found on Timberlands Road.

SAR co-ordinators wish to advise any hunters in the area of the presence of the SAR and RCMP dogs. Also, if you want to join the search, you are welcome to do so but you MUST first CHECK IN at the command post on Timberlands Rd; you also MUST be equipped for the terrain, weather and have appropriate supplies and food. Otherwise DO NOT attend to the search site. More updates to be provided as the search continues. Additionally it has been brought to our attention the missing female goes by the first name of Faye not Bertha.
