In the fall of 1999, 16 year old Matthew Alan RICHARD was hitchhiking on Highway 1 (the Trans-Canada Highway) with a friend when he went missing. The pair was on their way back to Canmore, Alta when they stopped at the Skyline Esso Truck Stop (mid way between Revelstoke and Sicamous BC). For some unknown reason, Matthew wandered off from that location without his friend’s knowledge and hasn’t been seen since.

An extensive search of the area was conducted but Matthew was never located.

An extensive investigation has been conducted and officers have not been able to say at this time whether or not foul play was involved in Matthew’s disappearance.

At the time of his disappearance, Matthew was 6’1” tall, weighed 175 pounds, short blonde hair and blue eyes. Distinguishing mark: Matthew had a chipped and darkened front tooth.
