File # 2016-35314
RCMP is seeking the public’s assistance in locating a missing man, Gurdeep ‘Gordon’ Sagoo, 50, of Delta. Gordon was last seen on August 14, 2016 by members of his hiking group on a trail on Baby Munday Peak and was reported to police as overdue later that afternoon when he did not arrive at an arranged rendezvous site.
RCMP immediately initiated a comprehensive search (see news release of 2016-08-22) of the Baby Munday Peak region from both the ground and air for the missing hiker which -over the following week- deployed Search and Rescue (SAR) teams and resources from across the Lower Mainland and Fraser Valley. After exhausting all initial efforts to locate Gordon the RCMP scaled back the search by standing down the SAR operation.
Gordon is described as a south Asian male, 180 cm (5’11) in height, athletic build, and when last seen was wearing a black shirt, black shorts, and a ball cap carrying a gray coloured back pack.
RCMP are reaching out to back country enthusiasts, hiking the trails in the Baby Munday Peak region, to remain alert for indicators that might provide clues to assist police with their search for Gordon.
RCMP are reminding hikers in the Baby Munday Peak region to remain watchful for Gordon, says Cpl. Mike Rail, spokesperson for the UFVRD.
RCMP urge anyone who may have information on the whereabouts of Gurdeep ‘Gordon’ Sagoo to contact the Chilliwack RCMP at 604-792-4611.
