File # 2017-487

RCMP release the identity of a male discovered deceased as they continue to support the BC Coroners Service in their investigation into the man’s death.

On January 3, 2017 at approximately 5:30 pm, RCMP discovered the body of a deceased man on an undeveloped lot near the intersection of Water Street (Clement Avenue) and Ellis Street in downtown Kelowna.

Investigators have positively identified the male discovered deceased Tuesday evening in downtown Kelowna, says Cpl. Jesse O'Donaghey. We are very saddened to confirm that the deceased male is in fact 39-year-old Benjamin Reichert (who was reported missing to police on Jan. 2nd). We extend our deepest condolences to Benjamin’s family and friends during this difficult time, adds Cpl. Jesse O’Donaghey.

Benjamin's family requests that their privacy be respected during this very difficult time, as they come to grips with the loss of a loved one.

The investigation has now been turned over to the BC Coroners Service, as Benjamin's death is not believed to be suspicious in nature.

RCMP will continue to support the BC Coroners Service in their investigation. Further information is to be released by the BC Coroners Service.
