Body found in Nanaimo

The Nanaimo RCMP have recovered a body believed to be that of Makayla CHANG.

Chang was reported missing to Nanaimo RCMP on March 22nd, 2017.

Nanaimo RCMP are treating this as a homicide investigation.

The Nanaimo RCMP do not believe the public is at risk and remain committed to advising them should the risk level change.

The investigation is being led by Nanaimo Serious Crime Unit along with the assistance of other police resources.

This remains a priority investigation with dedicated resources tasked with determining the circumstances surrounding the disappearance and murder of Chang.

Nanaimo RCMP will not provide any further information as this is an ongoing investigation.

The family is asking for privacy during this difficult time.
