File # 2017-6971

A ground search for Australian national Alison Raspa, missing since November 23, 2017, will be suspended following an extensive almost two-week effort by police and emergency services to locate the missing 25 year-old.

Since Ms. Raspa was reported missing to police, the Whistler RCMP, Whistler Search and Rescue, Whistler Fire Rescue Service, RCMP Air Services, RCMP Underwater Recovery Team, her friends and family have joined efforts to locate Ms. Raspa.

Ms. Raspa was last seen on November 23 shortly after midnight leaving the Three Below Bar in Whistler Village. She spoke with a friend in the Village Stroll area and later investigators believe Ms. Raspa may have taken public transport to an area near Highway 99 and Lake Placid Road walking west toward Alpha Lake. At approximately 1:15 am, Ms. Raspa texted some of her friends to confirm she was lost.

A citizen found a jacket, backpack and wallet belonging to Ms. Raspa. These items were found near Highway 99 and Lake Placid Road. Her cell phone was located by another citizen in Alpha Lake Park. Investigators have yet to determine why these items were discarded, but do not believe it is the result of foul play.

The search to date has been extensive and has circumnavigated the park, lakes, as well as the road/trails/parkades leaving from the village to Alpha Lake Park. At this point all available leads have been exhausted.

The missing person file will remain active and ongoing until such time that Ms. Raspa is located. Whistler RCMP would like to thank the public and the media for their assistance in this investigation. Police are again appealing to the public asking if anyone remembers seeing Ms. Raspa on the evening of November 22 and into the early morning hours of November 23 to contact police at 604 932-3044.
