RCMP in Ahousaht Search for Missing Canoer

On July 22, 2018 Ahousaht RCMP were called to assist in the search for a 23-year-old Ahousaht man. Richard Amos, was last departing in his canoe with his fishing gear, just after noon the same day. He was reportedly heading toward Catface Mountain, east of Flores Island (Ahousaht) to go fishing.
When Amos didn’t return as expected, a large scale water and shore search was launched by the Joint Rescue Co-ordination Center, with assistance from RCMP, West Coast Marine Services, Coast Guard, both the Ahousaht and West Coast Inland Search and Rescue Teams and community members.
Vessels assisting in the search located Mr. Amos’ canoe, and a single red shoe on Shot Island, late in the day on July 22.
The search for Mr. Amos is expected to continue throughout that day today, marking the fifth official day.
Richard Amos is described as;

- 141 pounds
- Brown Hair
Last seen wearing;
- Black Shorts
- Black t-shirt
- Red shoes
