File # weekly update
On Oct 22, just after midnight, Whistler RCMP observed a grey car travelling on Village Gate. The officer made a u-turn to pull over the vehicle. When the officer had turned around, he noted that the drivers side door was open, though the vehicle was continuing to travel down the road. The vehicle drifted into the oncoming lane, which was vacant, and came to a stop when I collided with a street light. The driver of the vehicle was located nearby, who disclosed that he jumped out of the vehicle, while it was still in motion, when he saw the police car turn around, as he thought he had no insurance. The officer pointed out to the driver that he had insurance, then proceeded to deal with their actions and the resulting accident.
On Oct 23rd, Pemberton RCMP were advised that two hikers had been reported missing in a neighbouring police jurisdiction. Pemberton RCMP were able to locate the vehicle belonging to the hikers near the Mackenzie FSR. Pemberton RCMP has been conducting a search in the area for the missing hikers since that time, in conjunction with Pemberton Search and Rescue. Currently search efforts are still ongoing.
