One person deceased following reports of gun fire

On Monday, January 8, 2024, at 7:38 PM Mountain Standard Time the Fort St. John RCMP received multiple calls reporting that several vehicles were engaged in what appeared to be a car-chase between at least three vehicles.

Witnesses reported hearing and seeing gun-shots exchanged between the vehicles as they travelled from 100th Ave south on 90th St. At least two residences in the area were struck by the gunfire. A deceased male, who is believed to have been part of the incident, was located in a vehicle near 97th Ave and 90th St.

Fort St. John RCMP are seeking the public’s assistance in the investigation and are asking anyone who was in the area near the time of the incident, who have doorbell cameras, home security cameras or dashboard cameras, to call the RCMP.

People living in the area of the incident are asked to examine their residences for any damage that may be have been received as a result of the incident and report to the Fort St. John RCMP.
