Pack-a-PC event reaches new heights
2019-12-09 08:07 PST
Local police officers, volunteers and Detachment staff were accepting donations yesterday as part of the Pack-a-PC event in partnership with Save-on-Foods.
For six hours on Sunday December 8th, 2019, the generous people of our community were invited to attend any of the four Save-on-Foods stores to help
Pack-A-PC (police car) with non-perishable foods.
Through both traditional and social media, the community responded. By the end of the event, an estimated 35 police cruisers were filled with food items, and more than $5800 in cash and gift cards were donated. That is five more filled cars than last year’s record and over $1800 more cash & gift cards than the previous record set in 2017.
On Monday December 9th, 2019, all donations were delivered to the Prince George Council of Seniors (www.pgcos.ca) by representatives from the Prince George RCMP with the help of students from both Duchess Park Secondary and DP Todd Secondary Schools. All donations will help feed seniors in need this holiday season.
Thank you very much to the people of this community for once again stepping up to help feed seniors in need says Bev Livingstone, City of Prince George municipal employee that organized the event.
These donations go a long way to make their holiday a great one
The RCMP would like to thank the Prince George Save-On-Foods stores for partnering with us for this event, Wood Wheaton GM for donating the cube van and all those that took the time to donate to this worthwhile cause.
