File # 2020-36653

The investigation is continuing following a fatal motor vehicle collision this past weekend.

On Sunday October 4, 2020 at approximately 11:20 a.m., the Prince George RCMP received multiple calls reporting a tractor-trailer rollover on Highway 16, east of Prince George. Indications were that the truck was on fire and blocking the entire highway.

On arrival to the scene, frontline officers found that another vehicle had collided with the tractor-trailer. The driver of the vehicle, an adult male, was deceased at the scene. The two occupants of the tractor-trailer escaped with non-life threatening injuries and were transported to hospital for treatment.

The highway was closed for several hours while officers gathered evidence and crews worked to clear the scene. The investigation is continuing.

The BC Coroners Service has been notified and is conducting a parallel fact-finding investigation to confirm cause of death. No further information about the identity of the deceased will be released.

The Prince George RCMP would like to thank an off-duty firefighter from McBride, BC, who assisted greatly at the scene.
