File # 2023-31436

On September 14, 2023 at 7:15 pm Langley RCMP were notified by Emergency Health Services (EHS) of a pedestrian being struck by a car on 64 Avenue near 258 Street. Frontline officers responded to the scene where Township of Langley Fire Department and EHS were providing emergency first aid to the pedestrian, a 24-year-old woman.

Initial investigation indicated the driver of a 2018 BMW was travelling west on 64 Avenue. Just prior to 258 Street he lost control of his vehicle and began swerving colliding with the pedestrian who had been walking westbound along the shoulder of 64 Avenue. Unfortunately, the pedestrian succumbed to her injuries at the scene.

The driver and lone occupant of the BMW remained on scene. Although the cause of the collision is still being determined, alcohol is believed to have been a contributing factor.

Langley RCMP Criminal Collision Investigation Team (CCIT) and the Integrated Crash Analyst Reconstruction Services (ICARS) were called out and attended the scene. CCIT have taken conduct of the file and continue to investigate.

If you were driving in the area around the time, please review any dash cam footage you have. Anyone who has information regarding the collision or witnessed it is asked to contact the Langley RCMP at 604 532-3200.
