RCMP have notified the Independent Investigations Office of British Columbia (IIO BC) of an incident which resulted in one man being taken to hospital last night in North Vancouver.
Just after 8 p.m. on Thursday June 20, North Vancouver RCMP officers were called to a residential building located in the 2600-block of Fromme Road in North Vancouver for a report from a resident that a man with a weapon was in their apartment. Upon arrival RCMP officers observed a man, matching the description provided by the complainant, allegedly hanging from the window of a third floor apartment. The man dropped to the ground and was arrested without incident.
The man was transported to a local area hospital by BC Emergency Health Services, with serious injuries. He remains in police custody.
The North Vancouver RCMP is leading a concurrent investigation into the break and enter and the IIO BC is now investigating to determine whether police actions or inactions are linked to the man’s injuries. As the matter is now under investigation by the IIO BC, no further information will be released by police.
Please note that all aspects and circumstances of this incident will be the subject of independent investigation and verification by the IIO BC. For more information about the IIO BC and media updates, you can visit their website at www.iiobc.ca
