File # 22-29051

Police have arrested a suspect following a comprehensive investigation in the attack of a restaurant employee.

On November 19th, 2022 at approximately 11:00 pm a restaurant worker in the 100 W 1st St in North Vancouver was assaulted when an unknown suspect allegedly assaulted him by striking him with a blunt object and a gun. The victim sustained serious injuries and was taken to local hospital.

Following a thorough and exhaustive investigation, after they determined this was not a random attack but rather a targeted incident, the North Vancouver RCMP Serious Crime Unit arrested a suspect in the case on March 22nd. The male, who is in his 20’s and a resident of North Vancouver, has since been released with conditions pending a court date.

This was a traumatic incident for the victim, said Cst. Mansoor Sahak of the North Vancouver RCMP. It also affected the community’s sense of safety. The fact there were many unanswered questions at the start of the investigation left some people fearing for their own safety. We hope this arrest, and the understanding that this was believed to be a targeted attack, restores a sense of security and reassures people that North Vancouver is a safe community.
