Impairment while operating a vessel on our local waterways involves the same risks and consequences as those on our roadways. On Saturday, July 22, 2017 officers from North Vancouver RCMP, along with representatives of ICBC and the District of North Vancouver, will be at the North Vancouver Cates Park boat ramp. There will be a media conference at 1:00 pm highlighting the Summer CounterAttack campaigns.

Through education and enforcement the goal is to ensure that boaters and motorists alike remain sober while traveling on our waterways and roadways respectively.

The tragic loss of lives on our waterways and roadways has an immeasurable negative impact on our communities. If your summer activities involve alcohol, think, and plan ahead for a safe time – either on the water or the road, said Supt. Chris Kennedy, Officer In Charge of the North Vancouver RCMP. To help your friends and family get home safely this summer, share the responsibility of being the designated driver.

ICBC will be giving away floating key chains at the boat ramp. For more information on impaired driving and safe boating visit the BC.RCMP.CA and ICBC websites.

Enjoy the summer season, drink responsibly, and see you at Cates Park (4000-block of Dollarton Hwy, North Vancouver) from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm.
