File # 2024-640

Maple Ridge, B.C. – Ridge Meadows RCMP has made multiple arrests as part of efforts to combat a slight uptick in break and enters and thefts in the downtown core of Maple Ridge.

Yesterday, Ridge Meadows RCMP announced increased patrols in the downtown core to tackle concerns affecting local businesses. This morning, Ridge Meadows Street Enforcement Unit (SEU) arrested a prolific offender in relation to a break and enter to a business.

Today’s arrest of a prolific offender is the fourth made in connection with criminality occurring in the downtown core. Three arrests were made at the end of last year related to mischief to businesses. These increased patrols are in conjunction with previous efforts to ensure the safety of the community.

The safety of residents and businesses in the downtown core always has been and always will be a top priority for police, states Inspector Martin Guay.

Immediate action has yielded immediate results and our efforts are ongoing as the overt and covert downtown patrols as well as the support of police volunteer patrols will continue to contribute to a decrease of criminality in that area.

Charges against all four arrested are pending.

This is currently an active and ongoing investigation and no further information is available at this time.
