File # 2020-1635
Early in the morning of April 8th the Sidney / North Saanich RCMP received a report from a concerned citizen who felt that some activity near the sewage plant on Sa Su Rd was suspicious.
Sidney RCMP front line members arrived on scene and located an enclosed trailer had been obviously broken into. Further investigation determined that this trailer had been stolen from Malaview ave in Sidney, and had been stored with thousands of dollars in welding equipment that was now missing.
Through investigation over the following days some of the stolen items were located and a suspect was identified. The General Investigation section of the Sidney RCMP Detachment conducted many inquiries with local businesses throughout Sidney, in an attempt to locate video surveillance identifying the suspects. The RCMPs Forensic Identification Section out of Victoria was also contacted and assisted in this investigation. A search warrant was drafted for the remainder of the stolen items, which were later recovered.
