File # 2024-53019

Surrey RCMP is advising the public that traffic is back to normal in the 18400-block of 32 Avenue after a single vehicle collision that caused the road closure earlier this morning.

Surrey RCMP is advising the public of the road closure of 184 Street, between 32 Avenue and 40 Avenue.

On April 16, 2024 at approximately 1:21 a.m. Surrey RCMP responded to a single vehicle collision on 184 Street, at 40 Avenue. The vehicle, a large flat deck carrying a bobcat, traveling northbound on 184 Street, went off road right, before striking a BC Hydro utility pole, downing the pole and wires.

The collision and damage to the utility pole has resulted in the closure of 184 Street, between 32 Avenue and 40 Avenue to facilitate removal of the vehicle and installation of a new power pole. The road is expected to be closed for a significant amount of time, with an expected opening around 8 a.m.

Surrey RCMP is advising at this time in the investigation, it is not apparent if alcohol or speed were a factor, and the driver has been transported to a local-area hospital with undisclosed injuries. As a result of the road closure, early morning traffic may be affected, and local area busses will be re-routed.

If you were in the area and have information, including dash cam footage, please contact the Surrey RCMP at 604-599-0502.
