Drugs and Cash seized by West Shore RCMP Bike Patrol Unit

On May 16, at approximately 6:50 p.m., West Shore RCMP Bike Unit officers were on patrol near the intersection of Goldstream Ave and Jacklin Rd in Langford when they pulled over a Ford Ranger to address the occupants who were not wearing seatbelts.
Officers observed drug paraphernalia in the vehicle within reach of driver. Both the driver and passenger were arrested for possession of a controlled substances. Further, a search of the vehicle and occupants revealed evidence of drug trafficking.
Bike Patrol officers seized the following:
- approx. 14 grams of suspected Fentanyl;
- approx. 7 grams of suspected Methamphetamine;
- approx. 20 ml suspected GHB;
- a can of bear spray;
- approx. $1500 cash;
- various other drug trafficking paraphernalia, including drug packaging materials.
Both the driver and passenger were arrested for Possession of Controlled Substances for the Purposes of Trafficking and have been released from police custody pending the ongoing investigation.
Though the province of BC has decriminalized small amounts of certain illegal substances including fentanyl and methamphetamine, it is illegal to have these substances in a vehicle where they are readily accessible to the driver,
