Single vehicle crash sends two people to hospital

On Sunday, March 19, 2023, at 4:45 am, Bella Coola RCMP, on routine patrol, came upon a single vehicle crash on Highway 20 near Snooka Creek Road.
Police observed a Dodge Dart in the ditch and two people were observed inside the vehicle. Multiple emergency service agencies were called to assist.
The driver, an adult woman, and the passenger, an adult man, were removed from the vehicle. The passenger, an adult man, who was not wearing a seatbelt, appeared to be suffering from life-threatening injuries.
Both people were taken to hospital. While the driver’s injuries do not appear to be life-threatening, the passenger is reported to be in critical condition in hospital.
Evidence at the scene suggest alcohol may have been a contributing factor in the collision. Police continue to investigate.
