In the evening of April 16, 2023 Castlegar RCMP responded to a report that a student allegedly made a threat through social media of violence toward the Stanley Humphries High school in Castlegar, BC.

School officials were immediately engaged and the student along with their parents were contacted by police.

Through the course of the investigation the threat level to the school, students and staff was low and that the school could remain open the following day. These incidents are taken very seriously as the safety of our citizens is a priority said Sgt Monty Taylor, NCO i/c Castlegar RCMP.

Castlegar RCMP and Victim Services, along with supports from the school, were present the following day offering any support needed.

The matter is still under investigation and anyone with information is asked to contact the Castlegar RCMP at (250)365-7721.
