Integrated Domestic Violence Unit (IDVU)

The Integrated Domestic Violence Unit (IDVU) consists of a RCMP Constable, a Social Worker from the Ministry of Children and Family Development and a community based victim services worker from the Elizabeth Fry Society. This unit is tasked with an integrated response to reduce incidents of domestic violence and repeat victimization to victims and family members that are at a high risk of physical harm.

The IDVU investigates all domestic incidents related to individuals who have been deemed by the IDVU and community partners as Highest Risk Offenders ‐ individuals at the highest risk to violently reoffend against their current or future intimate partner(s).

The Integrated Domestic Violence Unit participates in community committees dealing with domestic violence and provides education to the General Duty watches, community partners, and the general public on domestic violence investigations.
