The RCMP engages actively with the university research community in British Columbia and beyond. In addition to formal research agreements with the criminology programs at Simon Fraser University and the University of the Fraser Valley, collaboration continues on a range of research and teaching opportunities with the Justice Institute of BC, the British Columbia Institute of Technology, the University of British Columbia, and other institutions.

The Force is committed to promoting an integrated, empirical, problem-solving approach to criminal justice in BC. Good policy in criminal justice matters should be based wherever possible on rigorous academic research, collaboration across disciplines, and a commitment to "what works" and the objective evaluation of results.

Researchers wishing to collaborate with the RCMP in British Columbia on topics of mutual interest are encouraged to contact the Director, Integrated Criminal Justice & Crime Reduction.
