How do I get fingerprinted, request a police information check or apply for a record suspension?

What's the process for getting fingerprinted?

Like police information checks, fingerprints must be done by your local police agency.

Please note: fingerprinting can be done at the Coquitlam RCMP main detachment but is limited to certain days and times.  Fingerprinting cannot be done at our Community Police Stations.

What’s the process for getting a police information check?

Police information checks (formerly called criminal record checks) are part of the application process for an increasing number of jobs and volunteer positions, especially if you're going to be in a position of authority or working with "vulnerable persons".  A vulnerable person is defined in the Criminal Records Act as "a person who, because of their age, a disability or other circumstances, whether temporary or permanent, is in a position of dependence on others; or otherwise at a greater risk than the general population of being harmed by person in a position of authority or trust relative to them.

How do I apply for a record suspension?

Please note: As a result of Bill C-30, the term "pardon" has been replaced by "record suspension".

Please note: Record suspension forms are not availalbe at the Coquitlam RCMP main detachment front counter or at our Community Police Stations.
