Phoho of Burnaby RCMP Officer-In-ChargeOn behalf of the members, staff and volunteers of the Burnaby RCMP Detachment, it is my pleasure to welcome you and I would like to thank you for visiting our website.

With an estimated population of approximately 227400 residents, the City of Burnaby is the home of the 2nd largest RCMP Detachment in Canada. There are 302 regular and civilian RCMP members and 127 City of Burnaby employees that responded to approximately 60 000 calls for service last year.

As a team, we are continuously improving our quality of policing service to the citizens of Burnaby and are always looking for feedback from the community on how we are able to improve. I encourage residents to attend the monthly Community Policing Advisory Committee (CPAC) meeting held at their local Community Police Office. This provides residents of Burnaby with an opportunity to engage with their local police officers and fellow citizens who have a genuine interest in improving public safety.

The Burnaby RCMP Crime Reduction Strategy is well into its 2nd year since being implemented in November of 2009. Many other law enforcement agencies have also made the commitment to Crime Reductions Strategies and have all realized large and sustained reductions in crime in their communities. The crime statistics collected by our Crime Analyst Team coupled with the strategic deployment of resources to identified crime hot spots and the management of prolific offenders has resulted in a marked reduction in criminal activity throughout the City of Burnaby. Please click Publications & Reports to read our annual and monthly policing reports which provide a snapshot of the great work being done by our detachment team.

Burnaby Detachment has implemented several changes to our human resource structure to enhance the service delivery to the citizens of Burnaby. These changes include the addition of an Officer in charge of the Community Programs who will oversee programs such as School Liaison, Youth Services, Neighborhood Liaison, Block Watch and Victim Services to name a few. We have also increased our complement of patrol supervisors to oversee and ensure that our high standard of our investigations is maintained.

In partnership with the Mayor , Council members and citizens in our community the members, staff, and volunteers at Burnaby RCMP are committed to ensuring the External link, opens in a new windowCity of Burnaby continues to be a safe community to live, work and play in.
